Hong Leong Bank (AGAIN)

Posted by Shannon on Apr 3, 2007 in Blogging |

Aiyoh, everyone’s getting tired of reading HLB’s stupidity on this blog liao… But I have to write, to warn everyone…

Whoever that has a current account in Hong Leong Bank, please beware… I don’t know about others, but I did not get any notification that they have increased their minimum account balance to Rm5000 daily… Yeah, you read me right… It was previously Rm1000, not it’s RM5000 (as in FIVE THOUSAND RINGGIT MALAYSIA)… And YEAH, they charged me RM5 penalty because of not knowing their change in policy…

Firstly, it’s not the RM5 that I’m pissed off with, but the lack of customer service… They could have at least sent an SMS or a letter accompanying their monthly statement, notifying me that we have increased the minimum daily account balance, isn’t it? Doesn’t this seem to you that they are diliberately out to con my money? I don’t tell you, then you dun keep that much money, then does not comply to our NEW policy, I CHARGE you… As of now, a friend of mine is in the same boat (he thought that daily balance is 1k, and monthly balance is 5k – I also don’t know all this balance balance thingy lar)… So, if 10 people don’t know about it, they get RM50, 1000 people don’t know about it, they CONNED RM500… GOOD yeah? *grr*

I’d rather pay RM10 for better service that I can TRUST, than to pay RM5 for a group that I cannot even try to put my confindence in… So as soon as EPF is settled, I AM GOING TO CLOSE ALL HLB ACCOUNT!!!

Wow..that is really bad bank service. You should petition to have that RM5 waived. It isn’t a lot of money but you ought to do it; after all you didn’t get the notice. If they know what good customer service is, they should waive this as it is like a 1st “offense.” It isn’t like your bank account is a delinquent.

Yah man, don’t give face… so what if it’s only RM5, it’s their mistake, not yours… But erm, on the other hand, if you go make noise and waste your time with them, it would be more than RM5 time spent huh? Cis!

That’s why sometimes although interest rates are better at certain banks, I look at the overall service I get. So far HSBC hasn’t let me down.

Oh Shannon, do remember to write a letter to them when you close your account detailing all your misgivings with them. A clear record might help the few people in the organization that might actually be trying to improve the bank.

Hmm usually Banks are SUPPOSED to send a letter of notification to inform customers on such charges. Tsk Tsk. HLB is definitely NOT reliable.

Close all your accounts once you’re done with the EPF thingie. They’re so pathetic. Did BNM approve of this RM 5 charge?

eh… can actually write to Bank Negara about. anyway, can I assume this is current account only, right? coz i have definitely less than rm500 in the hlb account…

anyway, i think they are the worst bank at the moment. dun think they’re keen to do business. most of their branches dun even have cheque and cash deposit machines… most other banks already started and renovating their offices to have these services.

so far in pj, i only know know of the one in damansara uptown with such machines, but most of the time… “Not in service”.

yes… very ridiculous bank. i think they just dowan to do banking business anymore.

Hey…my hubs also just found out that the stupid bank charge us rm5 every month. Of course he is pissed off too because they didn’t inform us. He said they only paste a notice at the ATM. How’s that? Now he wants to close the account and switch to another bank.

I am also very fed up with Hong Leong Bank customer service. I have fully redeemed my housing loan since March 08 but till todate they have not send Form 16N to my solicitor. I called the Tmn Tun branch everyday but the line is always engage. When I managed to speak to their staff, Hunza, no action taken. When i called the customer service centre 3 times, they promise to return my call, nobody bother to return my call…

I am very upset Hong Leong group has lost its credibility in customer service lately.

They did a system maintenance on January 24, 2009. Some of us tried to get some cash via the ATM machine. Then it pop-up – unable to process this transaction. No money and no receipt coming out of the machine. When later in the evening I’d checked my balance, the amount decrease/less of RMXXX (the amount that I didn’t manage to get from the atm). Tried to call the call centre the whole night long, finally the only thing they can do is to send a report to the bank and I must also go to the bank to make a written report and then Maybe within 2 weeks they will do some investigation to clarify this matter.

My account balance decrease in a few seconds, I need to wait for a few weeks for them to rectify the problem.

At least try to warn the customers of system maintenance. Everybody knows, system upgrade or whatsoever will cause a lot of haywire.

HLB is the bank that nobody can trust, no use to complain, I even complain to the CEO of HLB evonne chia about its staff matthew ong of giving me false data of my saving account, but she insisted that I have to contact matthew ong. Where is the fairness? reporting to BNM is of no use. I have given them 11 months to rectify the error, but in the end matthew ong’s (HLB) strong-arm tactic force me to accept their term and I protestedly accepted their unfair amount and close all mine and family’s accounts with this bank. I have reported to the Association of Banks in Malaysia, I am still in my quest for JUSTICE not for me but for the Malaysian Citizens right to fair and honest dealings with this bank(HLB)

u want to hear my story bout this HLB? I did a small balance 2k transfer to this hau lak bank’s credit card. Then i started using that CC as well.. 2 months later i found out that my CC portion amount was not deducted, (even i paid full for the CC charges) and at the same time was penalised as well…

Guess what the hau lak bank told me… Sir, you need to settle all your BT amount first, then only your CC amount will be deducted next. WTF!! Immediately i stopped using HLB CC. Poor me, i can’t settle all the BT, as i will be penalised (for early settlement).. so i watched helplessly the next 4 months to see the compound interest of my CC charges, as i pay the monthly BT amount.

After the 6months was up… I immediately cancelled all accounts related to HLB.

This bank shud be blacklisted.

Never. never get housing loan from HLB! and Confirmed! their service very very “Char”
It seem that the ground staff know nothing about what is the problem a customer is facing!

I was given the hosing loan by HLB more then 12 years ago and I discovered the irregularity with the interest charged (average of 9.75% for the passed 12 years and on the letter of offer is only BLR+1.35%)

With the monthly repayment to the bank of RM2834.00 X 12 moths X 12 years
= RM408,096.00 (Total payment up to January 2009)

After paying RM408,096.00 to my horror surprise when I asked the bank to print out my statement and the amount I still have to pay to the bank is RM203,795.36 (as on December 2008) and my principal loan amount is only RM280,000.00.

I am complaining the matter to the Managing Director and awaiting for her good reply!
