Rachel says…

She has been speaking like an adult, more so now that she calls herself the CheChe (big sister) and that she’ll need to teach baby to do the right thing and to train baby to do the things she knows how to do… I sometimes wish I have a recorder to record down all the funny things she says, and regardless of my constant reminder that I should blog about it so she can laugh about it when she grow up, I always forget… :|

For the past few months, she has been walking over to our bedroom on weekend mornings (she’ll sit and yelled out to Daddy to go carry her sometimes when she’s lazy) with her 2 Odies in hand, and shout out to us saying “Mommy Daddy, WAKE UP! Got sun liao, cannot sleep liao!!”… It doesn’t matter what time she slept the night before, she’ll wake up consistently at 7:30am or so, only a very very few (countable with my one hand) occasion when she’ll sleep until 9am…

She surprised us in early September, when she sang voluntarily (with lots of weird mat salleh pronunciation of mandarin) Teresa Teng’s ‘Yue Liang Tai Piau Wo De Xin’ (Moon Represents My Heart)… I’m amazed with how fast she could pick up songs, as she has only heard this song sang in karaoke (at my uncle’s house) and also once in a dinner where this song was used as the background of a photo slideshow…

So one night, when we were in her room accompanying her during bedtime, while she was drinking her milk… I told Tecky…

ME : I should blog about her singing the song…
Tecky : How would you wanna write the title?
ME : Translate it to english lar… Moon represents my heart… EASY!
Tecky (being silly) – trying very hard to translate and sing to the tune : You ask me how much I love you …
Rachel (turned and look at me, with this weird expression on her face, took off her milk bottle) : My FATHER very SILLY hoh?

I found it SO funny… That she was ‘laughing’ at Tecky’s silliness and also that instead of saying “my daddy”, she used “my FATHER”…

We were out shopping in Jusco, and she was holding on to my hand…
All of a sudden, she stopped and with one hand covering her buttock she said…

Rachel : Excuse me…
ME : Why? What happened?
Rachel : I fart…
ME : Eeee… You farted ar?
Rachel : Nemmind lar… I fart and I block it liao…
ME : HAHAHA! Is that why you closing your buttock?
Rachel : Yes… block my fart!

She have been using phrases she learned from the TV, and just saying it casually out of a sudden in the right context, which surprises us all the time… A few that I can think of now are:

  • Lets go guys…
  • I’ll be right on it…
  • Oh, c’mon…
  • That’s HORRIBLE!
  • etc…

At the same time, she’s occasionally putting ‘es’ & ‘s’ behind plurals and using past tenses correctly, but sometimes, is just hilarious…

  • When I told her to fluff her pillow herself, and complimented her on doing a good job…
    - “I’m a good fluffer!”
But when I complimented her on sticking her stickers correctly and neatly…
    - “Of course, I’m a good STICKER!”
  • When we were driving around with the inlaws…
    - “Are we driving around looking at houses?”
The other day, when we drove up to take a peak at inlaws’ shoplot that was rented out…
    - “Are we looking at shopses?”

One saturday, when her grandpa called her on the phone (FIL told us the full conversation)…

FIL : Hello Rachel. What are you doing?
Rachel : Hello AhGong. I eating pizza with EVERYONE! Mamagugu (grandaunt : supposedly mama’s gugu (aunt) – Rachel’s way of calling my aunt) making pizza…
FIL : OK. You want to go BahKutTeh with AhGong tomorrow?
Rachel : I think, I guess not. I’m VERY busy cannot go BahKutTeh.

The cheeky fellow, always have this cheeky grin on her face when she’s doing something wrong on purpose, and always has a good laugh afterwards…

She was hugging my tummy the other day, sayang-ing and kissing and saying to baby “Baby, cheche sayang and kiss you”… Then she went over to Tecky’s tummy and did the exact same thing, then stared at Tecky and me with a wide grin on her face, then laughed SO loud afterwards…

Also, when we were discussing about names to give Num2, she would like to be part of it too… Tecky thought Ellie sounded nice and cute, but when put together with the surname, baby would sound like “Elephant” (Ellie Huan)… So we were laughing, and Rachel asked her dad, “Daddy, you wanna call baby elephant ar? Silly lar you!”… However, when we asked her to suggest a name to call baby, she actually said “Let me think of something funny. *think* *think* *think* I know! Lets call baby, WINDOW HUAN!”:|

p/s: She agreed to call herself Curtain Huan if we’d name baby Window Huan… But well, NO WAY I’m going to name my kids like that… -.-”

HILARIOUS!!!! You should invest in a recorder. My dad had one and as my 18th birthday, he gave me the casette of the recordings. It was priceless!!!

Haha…she’s so funny. Ya, when we were thinking of what to name BBG, Shern also came out with all the silly names, kids being kids.
Btw, those photos are very nice.

LOL!! Good suggestion for names… but kids nowadays do pick up songs very fast… they only need to listen to it once on the radio or anywhere and out of the blue they will sing it out
