Rachel Huan

Weight : 16.5kg
Height : 101cm
Yerp! Rachel’s FOUR (4+ now, by the time I post)!!!
Summary of the year?
- Cut her hair short
- Got herself a little sister and absolutely adores the little one
- Started school
- … and a lot more …
She amazes me in many many occasions, reminding me that she’s not a small girl anymore, with her speech and her actions… I find myself staring at her when she sleep, wondering to myself how did she turn into this big girl, from bundle that fit nicely into 1 arm… Time really flew…
Back to her birthday!!!
She has been awaiting this day, and since she understand the routine by now, been asking everyone to “remember to buy me presents”…
Her school had her sports day on her actual birthday (27th May 2010) and so we celebrated her birthday in school a day earlier, and since it was a school night, we celebrated her birthday at home later (on a weekend)… She was asking about it, and making sure I have everything planned for her birthday, the cakes the present the invitation, asking again and again if everyone was coming… That’s her at 4! Endless list of questions…

She insisted in wearing the pretty dress Lynette got her, but later wanted to take it off cuz complained that it was too hot!!!!

A pic with little sister and Tina (present was from Tina)…

ACT surprise!!! End up, she was more into the ribbon than the actual present…

With grandma (my mom)…

See? hot lor! Wanna change…
She was counting and keeping track of how many presents she was getting…

Homemade ‘cake’ by my Aunt (the Paed)…
Yummylicious…

The candles…

Was she happy?
Well, I told her I didn’t buy any cakes, and lied to her that there is none…
She asked me, ‘How can like that?’

The moment she was waiting for…
What did Daddy and Mommy this year???

Photo taken with iPhone…
YERP!
She’s been asking for a pet fish, so we got her an aquarium…
Took her there to choose the deco and the fishes…

Rachel's Milestone
It was her birthday, and just so coincidentally, her school’s sports day was arranged on the same day…
She has been repeating and insisting that ALL HER FAMILY must come for her sports day, but inLaws had previously arranged for a China trip, so only my mom went along… Rachel woke up early, fresh and awaiting, excited about her sports day…
In the end, she was crying and unhappy, because while waiting (bored) in her tent, she decided to pick and collect twigs on the ground, and got scolded by a teacher for doing so… I had to agree to keep her collection of twigs for her so that she would participate… After a while, she was complaining that it was hot, and insisted that we stay with her at all times…

She was so happy, putting on her socks herself and getting ready…

On arriving school, she got her cap and towel…

With her class teachers…

Lining up…
She’s in Purple House…

Start of her twig collection…

Starting to cry…

Her event…

Cloth pegs on flags…

She was definitely fast…

Self entertainment…

Her collection!
Even some classmates helped her collect, and later on, starting to fight over the longest twig!

NO! I want to be with you!

Parent event…

Getting her medal…

With her best friend – Andrea

Second medal (Parent event)…

With grandma, that sat in the tent patiently, chit chatting with other parents/grand parents…

Rachel Huan
Well, when I was in school, I’ve always wanted to celebrate my birthday with my friends, in school, but have never had the chance, since my birthday always falls in the long school holiday end of the year… What do I do?
Well, they say parents live their dream through the kids?
So, Rachel’s 4th birthday was going to be the school’s sports day, so we (her teacher and I) made plans to celebrate it a day earlier… I got a friend to do the cupcakes (refer HERE) and bought simple things for party packs…
I wanted it to be surprise (for Rachel), until the time I was packing the party packs, Rachel saw everything and was asking about it… Well, so she knows I’m going to school to distribute the party packs, but she didn’t know I was going to bring cupcakes!

Rachel wanted to help…

Content of each pack…
The ‘ball sticks’ are pencil and colour pencil, where you can remove the bottom piece and put it back on top, each kid will get 1 of each…
She was happy to see the cupcakes, and happier to see her name was written on the largest star!

Couldn’t arrange them together, as I kept dropping the sugar confetti!
Destroying the deco a bit…
All in all, Rachel’s expression seem a bit cool, we are guessing because she’s a bit shy, and also because she wanted to go home with us after the celebration… And the ‘celebration’ was cut short, as they were gonna have the sports day rehearsal, so the teacher arranged for the party packs and cupcakes to be distributed (by Rachel) after the rehearsal (didn’t get to take pics of that)…
p/s: Had to mosaic-ed out the face of her friends, to protect their privacy, since I didn’t get permission to upload their pics…

She was happy with her cuppies…

1 candle only…
I initially bought a candle of Winnie the Pooh, but then seeing that there’s no space on the cupcakes, we used the normal candle instead… Will leave the Winnie the Pooh for home celebration!

Being shy that she’s now the center of attraction…
Everyone’s pointing to her when they sing ‘YOU’ in the happy birthday song…

Make a wish?
The 4 years old didn’t quite understand, so she just blew the candle off!

Passing it around, before it was all kept back into the box, since sports day rehearsal was starting…

Happy girl…
When I asked her later, if she actually enjoy it?
She told me 2 words, which made everything worth it…
“I LIKE!”
