Rachel Talk
It happens to all toddlers, but you just can’t help laughing at each incident…
Rachel called me today after her school (as per everyday that something ‘different’ – good and bad, happened, so she could fill me in with all the details)… First thing she said to me was:
“Mommy, I made elephant today in art class. It’s very colourful! Got lots of colours wan… You come back from work I show you”

She was so excited over it, I of course have to act excited also lar… So I said ok and all, I’ll see it tonight, bla bla bla… Then asked her how her chin was (she had a miss-step today morning on her stool when she was brushing her teeth, and knocked her chin)… She then told me:
“Mommy, I show you tonight. I don’t want to tell you, it’s a surprise for you!”
HELLO PRINCESS!! You told me ALL about it, then tell me it’s a surprise and you don’t want to tell me? *slap forehead*
So what did I do?
I told her “Surprise for me? I know, it’s a very colourful elephant maaaaaaaaaa… You told me ALL about it, how to be a surprise leh? Silly girl!!!”

Rachel Talk

We have been explaining to Rachel the meaning of husband and wife for a while, and she’s also been witnessing quite a few weddings, and was trying to grasp the idea of marriage…
On one occasion, she asked me if I would accompany her to get married next time, because she won’t dare to go herself, which I laughed and told her, don’t think about getting married now, cuz you are still too young…
Out of the blue the other day, she suddenly said:
Rachel: Mommy, who get married then only I get married?
Me: Huh? No such thing Rachel. You don’t take turns when getting married, when it happens, it happens lar… When you grow up, and you meet the right person and when you are old enough like mommy, then you can get married, don’t have to wait for whoever to get married first…
Rachel: OK.
Me: (being curious) Why? Why do you ask me that question? You want to get married?
Rachel: (Smiling sheepishly) Yes…
Me: Why do you want to get married?
Rachel: Because I want a husband. But I don’t know who I should get married to…
Me: You are too young lar! When you grow up, you will find someone lar… But why do you want a husband?
Rachel: I want a husband to play with me…
Me: Husband not to play lar! You have daddy and mommy and kakak and meimei to play with you mar…
Rachel: Daddy and mommy is different from a husband…
Well, I didn’t pursue further, as I don’t know how to make her understand… I guess she’s just too young… FOUR and talking about wanting a husband and worrying who she should get married to? I’m not ready my dear! I really am not ready!!!
