Date : 16 March 2008
Venue : Mc’Donalds Centrepoint
This wasn’t what assignment or sort, but a “guinea pig” opportunity for me and Nadia (Nadia’s photos of the day can be found HERE) to try out “shutter” on event photography (or sort)… But of course what matters most was to celebrate little Jayden‘s 2nd (early) birthday…

Beautiful afternoon… The sky started to turn gray AFTER the party, so timing was superb…

We arrived early, WAAAY before the host even left their house (wahaha)… Rachel being Rachel, was so scared of everything, this was probably the nearest she got to the slide…

A few other bloggers were there (check out Sasha’s post for full detail), and from the busy eating my lunch and busy trying to think of what I can shoot, I am regretful that I didn’t seem to have much time to chat with everyone… Taken tonnes of photos, but post processed and cut everything down to exactly 99 photos to be sent to Sasha… WAHAHA! From this photography try-out, I’ve concluded that:
- I need to improve on my composition… To try to give the subject more perspective instead of 2D…
- I will ALWAYS shoot with RAW from this point onwards… Yeah, Aaron, I finally FINALLY truly get your point…

The host FINALLY arriving… Read more…

After her evening shower, she was changed into a VERY BEAUTIFUL dress from my mom, all ready for the party… With her necklace and all, who wouldn’t recognise her as the Birthday Gal? But ar, don’t know why, the princess all nice and clean and pretty, but the parents, simply wore tshirt and khakis… hahaha… Lucky it was just a family party… hehehe…

Part of the food that was laid out… Though I didn’t have much of it… *roll eyes*
I’m sure she had fun the whole night, though I can’t say the same for myself… Cuz I didn’t eat much, as I was busy handling her… There were about 35 relatives there, and she must have been so puzzled, with all the commotions, and presents, but I’m sure she loved it, because she got to eat SO MANY things… Here’s a photo for proof… Mom insisted that Rachel held drumsticks for her birthday…

Yeah, that was KFC drumsticks…
I’m not that mean of course…
She get to hold it, she get to taste it…

And, NO LAR! I took off the skin, and it was just for show… She did bite a big chunk, but she kept chewing it, and then throwing it aside, end up, didn’t swallow also… She had her first taste of egg too that night… Her own birthday red eggs… Didn’t I say she had lots of food? hahaha… You didn’t trust me? Well, let me add on, water melon, rock melon, mashed potato, chocolate moist cake…
My mom had previously been secretly training Rachel to blow candles, and she has learnt well… If you put a lighted up lighter in front of her, she can blow it off… My mom was so proud, saying that she also trained me that, and I blew my own candle on my first birthday… DISSAPOINTINGLY, because the candle we used was a little too big, her soft blow was not strong enough, we end up, we helped her… I’ll post a video of her trying to blow the candle soon, when I get to edit the video… Well, we’ll get her to blow her candles when she’s 2 lar…

The long night went on to present unwrapping session…
You wouldn’t believe it… The amount of gift this little one got… I’m glad I already opened a WHOLE lot of it on her behalf previously… There were more, I’ll try to post about it another time, if I could gather all of it together! But it took us quite some time to open all of it, and of course, stopping in the middle of each for her to play with it for a while… The fun part for us adults were that, Rachel actually squeal or laugh when she open the pressies… She’ll hug the soft toys (3 soft toys this birthday), or smile at the dresses (more than a dozen clothings added up), and played with the toys (err, 2 set of chinese educational CD’s & flash cards, 1 magnetic alphabets set, 1 drawing board set, 1 winnie the pooh push car cum bicycle, 1 educational children phone – I hope I did not miss any)… She lasted WAY beyond her sleeping time, playing and pushing all the toys, I don’t know where she got her energy, since she didn’t sleep much the whole day (it’s like she knew there’s a celebration and she doesn’t want to miss any of it)… I was tired even before she konked out…
To even imagine that we started off wanting something simple… Even the post about that day took so long!!

Firstly, I’ve posted the scrap for Rachel’s 12 months old… Silly old me, don’t know how come I forgot about it earlier… Let me just add that, the photo in the scrap, is of Rachel wearing the gift from Nadia… It fits VERY well, and looks VERY nice… Thanks!! Also, I have also changed her height in the post… I wrongly added 2 more cm in her height, when measured yesterday at the clinic before her MMR, my aunt (her paed) said she’s only 72, and added that, THAT’S SHORT!!!
Secondly, I’m glad many liked the post I did on Rachel’s 1 Year Old in a nutshell… I love it too…
Lastly, lets get on with the day of celebration!
We initially wanted to have it in the inlaw’s place, and then due to some circumstances, it was decided to be held in my mom’s house… And LAST MINUTE, was changed to my inlaw’s again… Don’t ask me why, and yes, it does cause a lot of last minute changes… Including having to transport the cake I ordered from Min from Klang to Kota Kemuning!! Lets keep the cake story for another post…
Rachel was looking all pretty the whole day, since my mom gave her bracelett and necklace, and my grandma (mom’s mom) gave her an anklet, which she wore the whole say, and being the vain baby toddler (yes yes, she’s a toddler now, WOO HOO) she is, kept shaking the bracelett whenever we ask her, where pretty? She also wore the mini skirt and blouse given by Yvonne, which made her ADORABLE… Everyone said so, everyone loved the mini skirt… Thanks yeah! (There’s lots more clothes to put on the model and give credit for people, but the baju all SO NICE, I don’t know when I can let her wear them… *slap forehead*)… My mom even made red eggs (yeah, family tradition, always got red eggs during birthdays) and she was happily playing with it…
