Rachel’s First Sports Day…

Posted on May 27, 2010 in Rachel's Milestone

It was her birthday, and just so coincidentally, her school’s sports day was arranged on the same day…

She has been repeating and insisting that ALL HER FAMILY must come for her sports day, but inLaws had previously arranged for a China trip, so only my mom went along… Rachel woke up early, fresh and awaiting, excited about her sports day…

In the end, she was crying and unhappy, because while waiting (bored) in her tent, she decided to pick and collect twigs on the ground, and got scolded by a teacher for doing so… I had to agree to keep her collection of twigs for her so that she would participate… After a while, she was complaining that it was hot, and insisted that we stay with her at all times…

She was so happy, putting on her socks herself and getting ready…

On arriving school, she got her cap and towel…

With her class teachers…

She’s in Purple House…

She was definitely fast… :D

Her collection!
Even some classmates helped her collect, and later on, starting to fight over the longest twig! :|

NO! I want to be with you!

With grandma, that sat in the tent patiently, chit chatting with other parents/grand parents…

Rachel’s 1st day of school…

Posted on Feb 25, 2010 in Rachel's Milestone

I know this is WAAAAY overdue, but I still need to put this in, for Rachel’s keepsake… :D

4th Jan 2010 marks a very special date for Rachel… It was her first day of pre-school…

Tecky took her to the Kindie to buy her uniforms during my confinement month, and she was SO excited over it… She came home jumping up and down telling me about it, tested it for me to see and was parading it around… The kindie has 2 different uniforms, 1 for playday and another for normal days, but we were later told that children can wear any that they fancy on any days… Needless to say, Rachel choose to wear the playday uniform, as it is of T-Shirt material and more comfortable… She initially told me that she looks like Humpty Dumpty when wearing that!

Wearing the normal uniform, all ready and excited to go to school…

Tecky took 3 days off work, to accompany the little princess, and be part of the ‘event’… We were both expecting her to cry and wail on the first day… But the day went well, and we didn’t even have to go into class… Her teacher prepared cupboard spaces labeled with her name for her shoes and bags, and told her to look for her own space, which she could, surprisingly… She then went into class with her teacher and tried very hard to fit in and find something to do…

Putting her slippers in her cupboard space…

When they were gathered around for a story…

They were made to queue with hands on shoulder, to go for snacks…
She was standing behind Andrea, which coincidentally is now her bestest pal (or so she says)…

With the first day chaos, they didn’t quite paid enough attention to each student and Rachel being Rachel, was bored… She kept looking at the clock, knowing that she can go home when the short hand reaches 10… She even came to the door a few times, asking “What do I do now?“… There was once that she came and gave us a bored shrug…

Blurry pic, but priceless… It got Tecky and I laughing outside the door…

1st day didn’t end on the right note, when she hit her toes with her water tumbler…

We were hopeful on the second day, but she cried and wailed when I walked away to greet the “transporter” auntie that will be bringing her to and fro school when I started work… From that point onwards, everything went DOWNHILL! She MUST have me with her, her eyes were red all the time, she’ll even cry at home when she thinks about school, and she kept telling me she “don’t want to go to school when mommy starts working“…

Wailing for me to go into toilet with her…

When she wore her ‘Humpty Dumpty’ playday uniform, crying and telling me that she don’t want to go school…

The ordeal lasted for a while, until she vomited on the first friday of school… THREE times, while she was getting ready for school… We suspect it was due to anxiety from school… In the end, my initial plan of getting her used to school before introducing the new element of having the transporter send her to school was scrapped, and we got the transporter to pick her up… She cried for a while, but was OK soon after that…

Conclusion : It’s a torture having to see your daughter cry for you, while you know you can’t turn back and give in, else it’ll bring you no where… It brought tears to my eyes, and it sucks, for her and me… But that is what made her accept school…

Long weekend, OVER! :(

That’s right…
The LONG awaited 4 days weekend just zoomed by like a rocket… It was a total drag having to go back to work, for me, for Tecky and especially for little Rachel… When I told her we need to go back to work, she just sulked and asked ‘WHY?! Holiday no more liao?’… Breaks the heart even more doesn’t it?

So, the long weekend… What have we done?
I was supposed to process the photos taken on our last family trip to Tioman (that was 4th-6th July! IMAGINE!!!) but didn’t even get near to it at all… I wonder how long I’ll be procrastinating those pics… So what did we do?

1) WE UPGRADED THE CAMERA – again!
That’s right, we got ourselves a new toy… Absolutely loving the new toy to the max… We paid RM2k++ from our own money (which was from the excess payment from settling our apartment’s homeloan) and selling our d80 and sold the Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 and some sponsoring from 4D *wink* (not ours but FIL’s)… What did we get??? A BOO-ti-ful full frame d700!

First pic taken with the d700… ;)
(at ISO1600 mind you!)

2) Raya…
We got Rachel a baju kurung from Jusco (at RM39.90, only to be told it was on 50% the day after we got it) and visited her friend Irfan (in his grandparents’) with her other friend, Naomi… It was lotsa shouting and fun for the kiddos the whole afternoon, and lotsa extremely YUMMYLICIOUS food (cooked by Nadia’s mom – with Nadia’s help I was told)… The much heard of tomato rice, rendang, roti jala… *slurp*

She was funny with her kurung, since it was the first time she’s wearing it… When we were trying it, she was staring at me and said “Mommy, the skirt too long lar!!” but was perfectly happy wearing it the whole of 1st day Raya – just not too ladylike, and erm, can see her panties sometimes… hahaha…

Wanted to take one with Irfan having a girl on each side, but not easy trying to persuade 3 x 3 years old wey…

3) Water colour and crayons – FINALLY!
I’ve been wanting to let her paint for a long long time, and only gotten around doing it now… She was very excited when we were at Populars bookstore getting the water colours and crayons, and was very careful with not messing everything up… Of course, the drawing was with LOTSA supervision, as she’s a little scared that she’ll draw the ‘wrong thing’, so kept asking us to guide her, but it turned out well…
